Third Person In British Forces Cyprus Tests Positive For COVID-19

A third person in the British Forces Cyprus community has tested positive for coronavirus.

The individual, who is permanently based in Akrotiri, is in self-isolation and is displaying "mild symptoms", according to British Forces Cyprus.

On Sunday, two members of the British military tested positive for coronavirus in Cyprus.

Schools in British Forces Cyprus have closed in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.

All six schools within the base areas will remain shut until Monday 20 April.

During the closure, pupils will learn from home, as well as being provided with a reading list.

Other sites, including gyms and restaurants, have also closed.

Nearly 6,000 British military personnel and their dependents are based in Cyprus.
