Plane-Spotting Family Creates DIY Air Show In Their Garden

A family of plane spotters have recreated a military air show in their back garden, after the outbreak of COVID-19 led to all RAF displays being postponed.

Martin Bridge created the air show for his son, Curtis, after having to cancel trips to displays.

He got the idea whilst watching Curtis play with his aircraft models in the garden.

Mr Bridge said: "We’re RAF fanatics and most of our holidays are based around RAF Coningsby and the Red Arrows.

"We probably wouldn’t be going to any air shows this year and also our Easter holiday where we would go to Mildenhall and Lakenheath would be cancelled as well.”

Their DIY display included models of Typhoons, Tornados and Chinooks.

Curtis said working on the display with his family filled the gap of not going to see a real show in person.

On being asked whether there will be anymore shows, Mr Bridge said "We’re probably going to do one more, we’ve got enough models."

The next DIY show is expected to feature an F-18 Super Hornet, phantom, Apache helicopters, along with many others.
