How might UK Forces be used to bolster European security amid Russia concerns?

Where and how will British forces be used to strengthen the NATO response to Russian tensions in Eastern Europe?

Downing Street has put 1,000 more troops on standby in case of a humanitarian crisis in the region, brought about by a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine.

During a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Boris Johnson warned Europe could be facing its "most dangerous moment" in the next few days.

The Prime Minister said the UK's commitment to European security is "unconditional and immoveable".

Russia currently has an estimated 130,000 troops massed along the border with Ukraine, prompting fears it's preparing for a full-scale invasion. Moscow denies this.

British officials are warning any further Russian incursion into Ukraine would be a "humanitarian disaster" leading to a mass displacement of people, which would particularly affect countries like Poland and Lithuania.
