Marines Set To Complete Epic 1664 Mile Run
A team of Royal Marines who aimed to run 1,664 miles in 100 days are now reaching their final few steps.
The RM 1664 Global challenge began back in April and has now reached London.
The RM global 1664 challenge which is named after the date the corps was formed, sees commandos from every unit from Plymouth to Arbroath competing in 100 events across the world in 100 days.
They've already raised £62,000 online for the Royal Marines Charity and many more donations are expected to come in.
The team are now on Day 99 – joined by personnel from the Royal Marines Reserve in London.
After leaving the Royal Marines Reserve Barracks in Southfields the team ran some of their final few miles through London covering Wandsworth, Battersea and Hyde Park.
Tomorrow they'll finish their final few steps in front of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. Prince Phillip will be on his last official Royal engagement before he retires from public life.
Since April the team have pounded the pavements but the end of 1664 miles is now very much in sight, and they're looking forward to a royal welcome tomorrow.
