Martin McGuinness, Former IRA Commander Turned Peacemaker, Dies

Martin McGuinness, the former IRA leader turned Sinn Fein politician and peacemaker has died at the age of 66.

It is thought he had been suffering from a rare heart condition.

Martin McGuinness was a senior commander in the IRA in Londonderry at the time of the Bloody Sunday shootings in 1972.

He later became Sinn Fein's chief negotiator during the peace process that led to Good Friday Agreement. He went on to become Northern Ireland's Deputy First Minister.
