Tobacco sales on board Royal Navy vessels will stop from 1 September, a message sent on behalf of the Second Sea Lord said.

The tobacco sales ban will also include duty-free products.

The announcement from Vice Admiral Nick Hine follows the ban on smoking tobacco on board all Royal Navy platforms, which began on 1 January 2021.

It is part of the wider Navy 'tobacco-free' environment strategy.

UK defence has committed to a ban on tobacco products on all of its sites, building towards a smoke-free working environment by 2022.

The 'Smoking and Tobacco Control Strategy for Defence 2017-2022' aligns the Ministry of Defence with Government efforts to reduce smoking while minimising the negative impact of smoking on operational capability.
