Popping The Question On Poppy Day

Waterloo station is more known for being a commuter's hell rather than a romantic destination, but for one soldier fundraising on Poppy Day, it proved the perfect location for a marriage proposal.
WO2 Andrew Myles and his fiancé Katy Cromwell met while collecting money for The Royal British Legion at Waterloo station in 2014. Since then they haven't missed a chance to fundraise on Poppy Day.
So when it came to popping the question, there was only one place to do it.
The 37-year-old Sergeant Major said:
“We met on London Poppy Day and it means so much to both of us so it was always going to be on this day at Waterloo, while collecting for the Legion.”

The Serviceman’s soon-to-be wife said:
“Poppy Day is like Christmas for me, seeing how generous the London public is when buying poppies makes me quite emotional, so getting engaged on the same day is pretty overwhelming.”
The events at Waterloo were part of a nationwide campaign that aimed to raise over £1 million for The Royal British Legion.
2,000 collectors from all arms of the forces, as well as veterans and supports were involved in today’s fundraising efforts.
Spirits were high as some of the capital’s major train stations saw special performances from top military bands such as the Grenadier Guards and the Band of the Scots Guard.
There was even some spectacular dancing by the Royal Marines.
When not executing the perfect lift, the Royal Marines took to the skies, thrilling passers-by as they abseiled down 40 Bank Street every 30 minutes.
