Relations Between London And Moscow Are 'Very Low' Says Russian Ambassador

Russia's ambassador to the UK says relations between London and Moscow are "very low".

Speaking at a press conference, Alexander Yakovenko accused the government of trying to discredit the Kremlin.

He also denied that Russia's military intelligence agency had tried to hack organisations across the world.

He says everything in the British press about the GRU is fake.

Alexander Yakovenko, Russian Ambassador to the UK, said:

"We're rejecting that it was done by us.

"This is part of the media campaign. It is not a joke for us, for us, it is a serious matter.

"The bilateral high-level political dialogue is currently frozen - that was not our initiative that was the initiative of the British government."

The Russian Ambassador to the UK refused to accept that the two suspects accused of carrying out the Novichok attack were members of the GRU.

It is Britain he said who is not being transparent.

Mr Yakovenko then questioned the governments reasoning for carrying out airstrikes in Syria earlier this year.

"Nobody found the chemical weapons which was allegedly [what] the government used and there was an inspection from the OPCW and nothing was found."

"But the missiles were launched."

Britain maintains that Russia was behind the Salisbury attack.
