How many UK military personnel are deployed with NATO – revealed

The numbers of UK military personnel that are deployed with NATO in each country has been revealed. 

Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed recently that 350 British troops are to be sent to Poland and warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that invading Ukraine would backfire and only serve to strengthen NATO.

Defence Minister James Heappey has responded after Shadow Defence Secretary John Healey asked the question: How many UK military personnel are deployed with NATO in each country where the organisation is deployed?

The response shows that Belgium, with 238, has the largest contingent of UK military personnel deployed with NATO, with Italy (192), Germany (159) and the UK's 150 the next largest.

The only other countries with more than 50 NATO deployed British personnel are the US, currently with 62, and the Netherlands with 66.

Other NATO nations such as Turkey (40), Norway (35), Spain (18), Portugal (14), Poland (12), France (11) all fall below 50 with Slovakia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Greece and Romania all currently having only one UK personnel deployed with NATO presence.
