Royal Marines veteran reaches South Pole during Antarctica challenge

A Royal Marines veteran has reached the South Pole during a challenge complete to a coast-to-coast crossing of Antarctica.
Baz Gray reached the milestone on day 39 of his trek 'Challenge Antarctica', which is a completely solo mission.
He began the challenge at McMurdo Sound and is due to finish at Berkner Island.
Baz has been using Challenge Antarctica to raise awareness and funds for The Royal Marines Charity.
The former Commando and Regimental Sergeant Major spent a year deployed to the continent during his military career as a cold weather expert to the Royal Navy vessel HMS Endurance.
Baz Gray's exploits come less than a fortnight after Captain Lou Rudd became the first Briton and the second man to trek unaided across Antarctica.
