UK Typhoon Jets a 'Visible Reassurance' in Romania

The Chief of the Defence Staff says the presence of four RAF Typhoon fighters in Romania is a crucial part of the alliance providing collective security in Eastern Europe.
The jets from 3(F) Squadron based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire are working with 135 Expeditionary Air Wing at Mihail Kogalniceanu airbase near Constanta in Eastern Romania .

Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach met the Romanian Chief of Defence, General Gen Nicolae Ionel Ciucă, at the base. He told the RAF team they were providing a "visible reassurance and presence". It meant "all of us in Europe can have that sense of security."
“I know at the moment things seem very quiet, but it may not always be that way and it may be because you are here."

Sir Stuart praised the work of the RAF around the world. "I’ve not known the Royal Air Force quite so busy in all my decades of service. We have Typhoons in the Falklands, we have Typhoons ready for Quick Reaction Alert in the UK. We have Typhoons for national security in the Middle East doing some of the most demanding air to ground missions I have ever seen."
