Navy weightlifter misses out on Commonwealth Games bronze medal after finishing fourth

Royal Navy weightlifter Lieutenant James Wales has finished fourth in the over-110kg competition at the Commonwealth Games.

It means he just misses out on a medal in Glasgow while representing Wales.

His two lifts were impressive – picking up 145kg with the snatch technique and 191 in the Clean and Jerk.

England's Andrew Griffiths pipped him to third by lifting 20kg more in the snatch lift, while New Zealand's David Andrew Liti won gold.

The runner-up was India's Lovepreet Singh, a petty officer in the Indian Navy.

It ends a medal-less Games in Glasgow for forces athletes after disappointment for Army duo, boxer Corporal Niamh Brookes and runner Lance Corporal Marvric Pamphile, and RAF swimmer Corporal Kyle Booth earlier this week.
