The Irish Guards have sent a message of support to the Princess of Wales, who is Colonel of the regiment, after she announced she was being treated for cancer.

Kate became Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2022, a role previously held by her husband, Prince William.

Posting on X, the Irish Guards said they were "thinking of our Regimental Colonel Her Royal Highness Princess Catherine of Wales at this time".

"We wish her the very best recovery, and all thoughts and prayers are with her and her family, as well as the wider Royal family," the post continued.

"Quis Separabit."

Last year was the first time she participated in the regiment's annual St. Patrick's Day parade as Colonel of the Irish Guards.

Although absent from the occasion this year, the Irish Guards gave three cheers in honour of the Princess of Wales.

The Parachute Regiment and the Welsh Guards were also among the military regiments to send messages of support to Kate.
