Gun salutes mark two-year anniversary of King's coronation across London
The British Army has marked the anniversary of the King's Coronation Day with gun salutes at Hyde Park and the Tower of London.
The commemorations took place two years after King Charles was crowned at Westminster Abbey in 2023.
At midday, the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery rode into Hyde Park, recreating the moment they saluted the coronation itself.
Seventy-one horses pulled six First World War-era field guns onto the grass, taking position beside crates of blank ammunition.
The Troop fired 41 rounds at 10-second intervals, sending white smoke drifting across the park.
Unusually, the salute was inspected by Major General James Bowder, General Officer Commanding London District and commander of the Household Division.
An hour later, attention turned to the Tower of London, where the Honourable Artillery Company fired a 62-gun salute from Tower Wharf, facing the River Thames.
Three 105mm light guns were used for the salute.
