Brave Bones Buried At Last

Ceremonies for British servicemen have been held in the Netherlands, almost three-quarters of a century after they died.

Tens of thousands of victims of the Second World War have been recovered and identified
The soldiers can now finally be buried in graves bearing their own name thanks to years of work by the Netherlands Army Identification Unit.

The unit is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.

On the anniversary Lieutenant General Mart de Kruif, the Commander of the Royal Netherlands Army, said:

“The Royal Netherlands Army Recovery and Identification Service is one of the key units in our organization, underlining what our armed forces are all about. We take care of each other and never leave anyone behind.”
