NHS "Refuses Treatment" For Amputee

The NHS is refusing to treat an army veteran who lost his legs in Afghanistan because he travelled overseas for a privately funded operation.

Jay Baldwin served with the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment and lost both legs in a bomb explosion in Afghanistan in 2012.

After the incident he was left in great pain and confined to a wheelchair.

Jay underwent pioneering surgery, called Osseointegration, in Australia earlier this year to help him walk again.

Our reporter Rosie Laydon went to meet Jay and asked him about his experience.
