Crucial D-Day Bridge Restored To Former Glory

A piece of the temporary floating harbour used during the D-Day landings in Normandy has been restored and put on display.

Dubbed 'The Whale' and designed by Royal Engineer Major Allan Beckett, the bridge was part of the Mulberry Harbour, a network of huge floating roads used to rapidly offload cargo and soldiers.
