HMS Flying Fox Goes Virtual For Annual Showcase

A Royal Navy Reserve unit based in Bristol is hosting it's first virtual showcase event on Thursday September 24, 2020.
HMS Flying Fox will be showcasing the work they do as part of the reserve service in an online demonstration that anyone can watch.
The showcase is a free annual event to help engage the local community, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be online.
Lieutenant Commander Henry Watts, Royal Navy Reserve, will be hosting the virtual event. He said:
“The event is about engaging the region, and the employers so they get an understanding of what their staff are doing on their military duties.”

Starting at 6:45pm, the hour-long event will feature a number of special guests including, the Guest of Honour Vice Admiral Richard Thompson and a performance from the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines.
Current serving reservists will also be sharing their experiences of basic training and what mobilisation is like, and there will also be input from one reservist who is now joining the Royal Navy full time as a sailor.
I addition there will be a chance to have questions answered by those already serving in the reserve unit.
Lt Cdr Henry Watts also joined British Forces Broadcasting Service presenters Amy and Jay live on Instagram to talk about the upcoming event:
Tickets for the event are free and can be reserved through the Royal Navy Reserve website. Follow #FlyingFoxShowcase on social media for more information.
