Royal Navy offshore patrol vessel HMS Spey has left Singapore to continue her deployment in the Indo-Pacific region.

The ship is crewed by 46 sailors, with deployed personnel trading places with half the crew from the UK every few weeks.

So as HMS Spey departed Singapore she was sailing under a new captain - as well as with a fresh coat of new paint.

HMS Spey has been working with Britain's allies to carry out security patrols in the region, dealing with drug-running, smuggling, terrorism and other illegal activities.

She has been assigned no permanent base and instead uses Pacific bases and ports that best meet her needs and mission.

Most recently, HMS Spey welcomed Rear Admiral Dato' Ee (Yee) Tai Peng of the Royal Malaysian Navy on board the ship as she made her inaugural visit to the country.

In November, the ship also made her first visit to India, taking part in joint training.

HMS Spey is the fifth and final of the second-generation River-class offshore patrol vessels built for the Royal Navy, and as such her crew have dubbed her the "last of class - best of class".
