HMS Spey visits 'speytacular' active volcano Mount Yasur

The ship's company of HMS Spey visited the 'speytacular' site of the active volcano Mount Yasur.
Reaching a height of 1,184ft, the iconic volcano is located on the island of Tanna in the South Pacific country of Vanuatu.
The Royal Navy's offshore patrol vessel shared some brilliant images and footage from their visit, and a message of geology delight.
"We visited Mount Yasur, a 1,184ft volcano which has been erupting nearly continuously for 800 years! Geology rocks!" HMS Spey posted to Twitter.
Spey also recently visited the Solomon Islands.
Alongside her sister ship HMS Tamar, HMS Spey is deployed for five years as part of the Royal Navy and UK's commitment to the Pacific region.
Spey received a vibrant welcome last week as she arrived on Tanna Island.
"Wow – what a welcome! We loved visiting Tanna Island, Vanuatu. It was such an honour to receive a traditional ceremonial welcome, full of singing, dancing and making new friends!" said Spey on Twitter.
After the welcome, Spey's ship's company got straight to helping with relief efforts following twin cyclones, Judy and Kevin.
The offshore patrol vessel "delivered 3 x 10,000-litre water tanks and other essential equipment as the island's infrastructure continues to recover" from the cyclones.
