Rules of Engagement (RoE) outline the conditions under which military personnel are authorised to use force against the enemy.

Each nation sets its own directives on the RoE, and they are often kept ambiguous – until now. 

In a recent announcement, Defence Secretary John Healey announced the Royal Navy's RoE will be changed, allowing it to monitor and track Russian warships – including Yantar – in a slightly different way.
