Battle of Britain Memorial Flight not taking part in King's birthday flypast over palace

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) will not be taking part in the upcoming flypast for King Charles's birthday.
The BBMF made the decision in response to the death of Royal Air Force Squadron Leader Mark Long who died when the Second World War Spitfire he was flying crashed.
The Royal Air Force had already placed a temporary pause on flying for the BBMF following the tragic incident, which meant its aircraft also didn't take part in the D-Day 80 commemorations.
The BBMF said: "Due to the ongoing pause in flying for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) after the tragic accident on 25 May 2024, regretfully the BBMF will not be participating in the forthcoming flypast for His Majesty The King's Birthday on 15 June 2024.
"We are pleased that a large number of our aircraft are scheduled to take part, including the Red Arrows and a variety of transport, reconnaissance, rotary and fighter aircraft, including Typhoon temporarily assuming the BBMF formation callsign of MEMORIAL, with the display jet in D-Day colours."
The investigation into the fatal crash on 25 May is still ongoing.
