A Scotland-based RAF technician has reportedly suffered a career blow after admitting smuggling a woman onto a military base in the boot of his car while five times over the drink-drive limit.

Lee Medhurst, who is stationed at RAF Lossiemouth, had been on a 12-hour drinking session with friends before sneaking his companion past guards in the early hours of the morning, according to the Aberdeen Press and Journal.

The 27-year-old drove to his accommodation with the woman in the boot of his car after she was denied entry by military personnel at a guardhouse.

They had taken a taxi back to the Moray base at about 3am in December last year.

Defence solicitor Matthew O'Neill told Elgin Sheriff Court his client had already had an offer of promotion withdrawn, will not be able to advance in rank for a year, and will be fined by the RAF for his actions.

The court fined Medhurst £675 and banned him from driving for 20 months, after he admitted drink-driving.
