Red Arrows To Perform In China For First Time
The RAF’s Red Arrows will perform in China for the first time.

The aerobatics team will be taking their jets on a major tour of Asia, including performances in India, Malaysia and Singapore.

The tour has been in planning since last year but it’s reported that it’s been given a fresh push to go to the People’s Republic following the EU referendum vote as the UK negotiates an ambitious free trade deal with China.

It will be the first time the famous red Hawk T1 jets have put on a show in China in their history.

The details still need to be finalised for the team’s deployment after they were invited to perform at the Zhuhai Airshow as part of the UK’s GREAT campaign which is intended to showcase the best of what Britain has to offer around the world.

As part of building relationships across the globe the Defence Secretary, Michael Fallon, also confirmed RAF Typhoon fighter jets will take part in the joint exercise Bersama Lima from Malaysia. Mr Fallon said:

“Our RAF Red Arrows and Typhoons represent the best of British. The Red Arrows will fly the flag for Britain in key export markets while our RAF Typhoons will exercise with our allies.”

Earlier this year, the Red Arrows were forced to cancel aerobatic stunts at Britain’s biggest air show for the first time in more than 50 years due to safety fears after the Shoreham disaster.

RAF chiefs have decided the jets would be restricted to flypasts at Farnborough.
