US B-52 Stratofortress pictured soaring over the Middle East with RAF Typhoons

RAF Typhoons have been pictured escorting a colossal US B-52 Stratofortress bomber over the Middle East.
The British fighter jets were tasked with escorting the US aircraft during a Bomber Task Force sortie.
In a post on X, the official channel of the Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ) posted a number of photos that showed the aircraft flying in formation.
"This #PhoonFriday we're soaring with our @usairforce cousins in the Middle East," the post read.
Elsewhere, the US account for both the US Air Forces Central and US Central Command also shared images of the aircraft flying with the British Typhoons.
The B-52 Stratofortress is capable of flying at subsonic speeds at altitudes of up to 50,000ft and can carry nuclear or precision weapons.
It has a speed of 650mph and can carry up to 31,500kg of mixed ordnance – including bombs, smart weapons, mines and missiles.
The use of aerial refuelling gives the B-52 a range that is only limited by personnel, with a refuelling aircraft also pictured flying alongside the Typhoons.
The Stratofortress is also enormous. It has a wingspan of 185ft, is 59ft 4ins long and 40ft 8in tall.
