Who is in the race to replace the Red Arrows' Hawk T1 with a new next-generation jet

Who could build the next generation of Red Arrows jets?

The Red Arrows are going to need a new jet soon, with the iconic Hawk T1 Mk1 expected to leave service at the end of the 2029 display season.

The race to replace the ageing jets is now wide open after British aerospace firm Aeralis, which had been seeking Government backing for the next-generation aircraft, collapsed into administration.

Last year's Strategic Defence Review recommended the Hawk's replacement should prioritise British businesses, with many arguing it should be a UK-built jet.

Aircraft from BAE Systems, Leonardo and several other manufacturers are understood to be among the leading contenders.

While the MOD considers its options with no formal decision yet made, BFBS Forces News has taken a look at the potential Hawk replacements.
