British Forces Broadcast Service (BFBS) staff, who are also serving members of the British Armed Forces reserves, took part in a Reserves Day takeover with a special appearance on the radio.

The reservists, including members of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, marked the occasion on Wednesday, wearing their uniforms while working.

They were: Flight Lieutenant Amy Casey, Trooper Adam Powney, Warrant Officer 2 Darren Coventry, Private Alex Candlin, Air Specialist Ian Campbell, and Warrant Officer 2 Richard White.

As part of the BFBS reserves takeover, they took part in a radio broadcast for Forces Radio, hosted by Flt Lt Casey.

Each reservist made a song request relating to their memories of service and shared their experiences in relation to their respective roles.

They also spoke about how time with the reserves benefited their lives as civilians, and their roles within BFBS, the parent company of Forces News.

Members of the team took part in an online meeting with BFBS staff to discuss their roles and the importance of Reserves Day.

Staff also outlined the size and strength of the volunteer force, which currently makes up 18% of the British Armed Forces.

Reserves Day is held during Armed Forces Week which includes Armed Forces Day on 24 June.

The week gives people the opportunity to show their support for the men and women in the Armed Forces community, as well as service families, veterans, and cadets.
