Be proud of what you do, head of the Armed Forces tells personnel

The Chief of the Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Rich Knighton, has used his Christmas message to thank everyone who serves – and their families.

ACM Sir Rich, delivering his first festive message as CDS, reached out to all serving personnel, wherever they might be over the Christmas period.

He offered them his thanks – and extended that to their families too, recognising the valuable role they have in supporting their loved ones.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Rich's message in full

"To all of you who are serving, and your families, I have a simple message, which is thank you.

"So whether you're deployed overseas, whether you're on standby, whether you're keeping essential services running or taking some well-earned leave, you can be proud of what you do for your country, and for your families, to keep them safe.

"And for all of those families out there, thank you for everything you do to enable your loved ones to serve, to serve their country, to help keep you safe, to help keep our allies safe and our country safe.

"What they do, and what you do to support them, matters.

"So my message is simple. Thank you all for everything you do, and I hope you have a peaceful Christmas and a hopeful New Year."
