Call For Veterans To Take Part In VJ Day Celebrations
On 14th August 1945, the atomic destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki forced the Japanese to surrender.
The next day became VJ Day, or Victory Over Japan Day.
On that day, in a speech broadcast on radio, King George VI said;
"... remember all who have laid down their lives, and all who have endured the loss of those they love."
Now it is being marked by a series of events 70 years on.
If you are a veteran or a descendent of one, applications are due by no later than 24th July 2015.
Kate Gerbeau spoke to Bob Gamble, the Royal British Legion's Assistant Director of Engagement, who started by running through what will be happening on the anniversary day next month (above).
