Missing Corrie Landfill Search To Continue On Week By Week Basis

Corrie Mckeague

Specialist officers will continue searching the landfill site for missing airman Corrie McKeague, on a week by week basis.

The RAF serviceman, who was last seen after a night out in Bury St Edmunds in September, has now been missing for eight months.

Police are basing the search around GPS data gathered from the refuse truck which they believe he may have ended up in.

About 4,430 tonnes of rubbish has been trawled through so far at the landfill site in Milton, near Cambridgeshire.

The search area was expanded a few weeks ago as teams continue to find waste from the time and location that he disappeared.

A police spokesperson said,

"The work is constantly being reviewed and, as the search team are still finding items from the right time frame that are identifiable as coming from the town, the search will continue on a week by week basis."

This week more waste is being moved in bulk to allow the search to continue.

"Throughout the search officers have been working to understand exactly where waste was deposited and how it may have been spread out during the process."
