Navy Beat Army 25 - 12 In Inter-Services Rugby

The Interservices Rugby League Championship could be wide open going in to the final match next weekend when the RAF host the Army.

That's if the defending champions, the Navy, beat the Reds at Salford.

The Army put their opponents on the back foot early on, but it was the Navy who drew first blood after 12 minutes.

From there, both teams fought hard, putting up a good fight.

A broken ankle suffered by one of the Navy team stopped play for nearly 10 minutes, but both teams were soon back on the ball.

Because of pressure to finish the match before Salford Red Devils televised Super 8 playoff with London Broncos, the first half ended early.

In the second half, the Army laid siege on the visiting Navy and were rewarded when they finally broke through the try line.

Royal Navy Half Back ET Ry Matthews said:
"The Boys fought well, they got us into those great positions in the second half... when they went over to get their try... we got right back into it".
