"Near Miss" Between Low-Flying Aircraft And Car At RAF Base

A car that jumped a red light near RAF Waddington was almost hit by an aircraft approaching the runway.
It's reported that the King Air plane missed the car by "just a few feet" on the A15 in Lincoln.
Traffic lights on the road are used to stop vehicles when aircraft are approaching the base's runway at a low altitude.
The paths of the two crossed with a "near miss" and, according to comments on Facebook, the pilot said:
"The driver looked as if they realised at the last moment that it was close. Hopefully they've got some clean underwear to change into when they get home! If this had been a lorry you would now be hearing about this on the evening news!"
According to LincolnshireLive, a spokesperson for RAF Waddington said: "On an approach to land and whilst the A15 traffic lights were set to red, the pilot of a King Air aircraft observed that a vehicle travelling along the A15 had not stopped.
"Although on this occasion the pilot was not required to take evasive action, road users are reminded of the importance of adhering to the traffic light system which is for the safety of all road users and of the aircraft and crew."
