Pokemon Gone. Pentagon Bans Game

Pentagon Says 'No' To Pokemon Go
The US Department of Defense has told employees they must not play Pokemon Go inside DoD facilities.

According to the Washington Times, a memorandum sent out to defense contractors and government officials last month said that playing the game had the potential to jeopardise security.

Because Pokemon Go utilises GPS technology to help the player interface with real world features, there are concerns that information sucked up by the game could inadvertently leak sensitive information.

The location of secret facilities or the personal data of Pentagon officials, if obtained through the game, could facilitate spying attempts or cyber attacks.

One example of this concern was that a "gym" that is a central feature in Pokemon Go, appeared at the Pentagon within the game when it was released last month.

The gym has since disappeared, but the concern about the potential threat to security from the game apparently has not.
