Treasure Hunters Dig For Lost Nazi Gold

Drone footage has shown treasure hunters starting their dig for a legendary Nazi gold train at a site in south-western Poland.

They believe the train, laden with gems, gold and arms stolen by the Nazis, was hidden near Walbrzych as they fled the advancing Red Army at the end of the war.

Experts say there is no evidence that the legendary train exists there but the explorers disagree.

The dig team - led by Piotr Koper from Poland and Andreas Richter from Germany - said ground-penetrating radar results were "very promising".

A spokesman added:
“Research has shown there are some anomalies in the ground indicating the existence of a tunnel. The results are extremely promising and indicate that there is something there.”

The team think the train was hidden in a tunnel in 1945. The dig may take up to 10 days but the spokesman said:
“In three or four days we will know if the ‘gold train’ is buried in Walbrzych. It’s not a needle in a haystack. If it’s there, we will find it.”
