Forces boxers win national titles at Welsh Elite Championships

Two Forces boxers have won a national title at the 2023 Welsh Elite Boxing Championships in Cardiff.

RAF competitor Carys Mainwaring took the 60kg female belt by beating Taylor Allan via a unanimous decision.

In the male final of the same weight category, the Army's Joe Louis Wright also picked up a unanimous decision victory over Ethan Jones.

The wins follow the good year that military boxing is having in amateur competitions after three Forces stars won titles at the England Boxing National Championships.

Meanwhile, boxing within the Forces is at a high after the entertaining Army Boxing final between 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment and 1 Royal Anglian Regiment in Aldershot which was broadcast live on the Forces News YouTube channel.
