TKO win or DQ defeat? Controversial punch ends Army Boxing final bout
Last night's Army Boxing final saw 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment reign supreme in our latest Forces Fight Night.
But it was 1st Battalion Royal Yorkshire Regiment's first win of the night that caused controversy.
What result would you have given?
What happened?
During the eighth bout of the evening, Lance Corporal Tyler Mullins (1 R YORKS) took on Kingsman Kiniviliams Rokotagane (1 LANCS) with just pride on the line as the title has already been wrapped up.
After a competitive start to the first round, LCpl Mullins was rocked by a powerful right hand from Kingsman Rokotagane and the fight was called off after the standing ten count.
However, replays showed that the deciding punch only came after the Army Boxing official had called a halt to the fight for a break and LCpl Mullins' defending hands were down by his side with his face pointed towards the official.
It was a split second moment and there was no malice intended from the 1 LANCS boxer, but judges decided that Kingsman Rokotagane would be disqualified for an illegal punch that left LCpl Mullins in no fit condition to continue.
It was a tough decision for the judges, but what would you have decided?
