Army continue dominance of women's cricket with Inter Services 40-over title win
The Army have won the women's Inter Services 40-over competition after an emphatic 10-wicket win over the RAF.
The Army arrived at Burnaby Road off the back of a commanding eight-wicket victory over the Royal Navy the day before.
The RAF decided to bat in the sunshine after winning the toss and looked to set out their stall for a big total on a fairly placid wicket, but the Army didn't give them an inch.
Nine for 2 quickly turned into 17-4 when the dangerous Emilee Steel, who was impressive in the T20 competition last month, was caught and bowled with a fantastic piece of catching by Connie Cant.
Wickets tumbled at both ends, with the experienced Amanda Potgieter also taking a stunning one-handed caught and bowled wicket, and player of the match Abbie Sullivan taking four for five in 7.1 overs to bowl the light blues out for just 28.
The red shirts never looked troubled in their chase, and Georgie Cant and Eve Alder ticked off the necessary runs with 35.2 overs to spare.
It's yet more silverware for the Army to add to their win in the T20s at Arundel earlier in the summer.
