British Army Inter Corps cricket delayed until May 2025 due to washout

Watch: Rain ruins Inter Corps cricket Finals Day in Aldershot

Finals Day of the 2024 Inter Corps cricket championships have been postponed after rain washed out play in Aldershot.

Due to scheduling, the competition will now be delayed until May 2025 with that year's championship set to take place later in September 2025.

Four teams had reached the semi-final stage and the action will pick up from there in May.

The competition had a change in format this year with 26 matches played over three days and 10 Corps teams involved.

Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Castro, the director of Army cricket competitions, said: "Rather than do something low-key like a Bowl Off, we're just going to push the competition into the new season and it sets that off perfectly."

It means a packed month for Army cricket with the T20 Inter Services championships also being held that month at Lord's Cricket Ground.

"We looked at it as a committee today and pushing this into May next year might actually prove a really good tool to select some of the players that will represent the Army at Lord's," said Lt Col Castro.
