A new Invictus Games-branded train marking one year until the Armed Forces' multi-sport event takes place in Birmingham has been officially unveiled at London's Euston Railway Station.

In the early morning buzz of the rush hour at Euston, the newly named 'The Spirit Of Invictus' rolled in to platform 16.

The train, specially wrapped in Invictus signage, made its virgin journey from London to the 2027 Invictus host city.

On board was a collection of Invictus dignitaries and former competitors alongside veterans either connected to the games, the foundation or the railway.

For the next year, The Spirit of Invictus will be running its daily journey as normal and promoting the games with every mile covered.

The train's name was chosen by the public who were given four names to choose from – The Spirit of Invictus, The William Ernest Henley (who wrote the Invictus poem), Unconquered and Master Of My Fate.

Sadly, for fans of the naming tradition, 'Trainy McTrainface' was not one of the options.

Voting closed on 14 June and the winning name, The Spirit of Invictus, was unveiled today by Royal Marines veteran JJ Chalmers.

The Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, will feature 550 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans from 25 nations competing in 12 adaptive sports to support their recovery and inspire others through their resilience.
