Military drivers take on rutted trails at Armed Forces Rally Championships

Watch: Military drivers take on rutted trails at Armed Forces Rally Championships.

Army Reserve Corporal Danny Hedges has won the 2023 Armed Force Rally Championships following a determined drive at the Trackrod Rally of Yorkshire.

The two-day event saw military drivers take on the rutted trails of Dalby Forest in Land Rovers, with civilian teams also taking part.

Four military teams safely navigated their way through challenging terrain and Cpl Hedges, alongside co-driver Josie Harris, took the title.

Also competing were Ben Shackleton from REME and Luke Eastwood from the Royal Signals as well as military pair Michael Hurley and Callum Tyrrell, who were forced to retire due to a broken clutch.

George Martin and co-driver Jack Bean also put in a strong performance, but not enough to knock the Queen's Own Yeomanry driver off the top step, as Cpl Hedges took the win and the driver's crown for 2023.
