British Army tested against world-class Malawi side at Loughborough University
The British Army netball team have been put to the test in a friendly fixture against the National Team of Malawi at Loughborough University.
With the Inter Services around the corner, the Army used the game to gain valuable experience against a top-seeded team as they look to defend their title at March's Inter Services.
The Malawi side, who are also known as The Queens, used their game against the Army as a useful warm-up fixture ahead of crunch fixtures against England, South Africa and Uganda in this weekend's Vitality Nations Netball Cup.
The team from Malawi are also ranked seventh in the world, and their pedigree was evident from the very start of the game, leading the Army 5-23 after the first quarter.
Their on-court dominance continued in the second quarter as the Malawian side grew their advantage to 9-47 at half time.
The Army knew they had a mountain to climb if they wanted to get close to the elite Malawian side, as the reds trailed Malawi 15-70 heading into the fourth and final quarter.
Fijian internationals Dee Bolakaro and Ellie Nawale brought their international experience to the Army side, helping the Army to bring their best performance in the final quarter to score nine goals to end the score at 24-98.
Malawi showed their class as the Army take away valuable experience in their quest to keep their crown at March's Inter Services Championships in Portsmouth.
