Top Army Netball players take to the court at Inter Corps Mixed Netball Championships

Watch: Army Netball stars play at the Mixed Inter Corps Championships in Aldershot.

Stars of Army Netball have taken to the court at this year's Mixed Inter Corps Netball Championships in Aldershot as male participation in netball continues to grow.

Familiar faces such as Private Amy Howell were in attendance, the Combat Medical Technician recently signed to Super League side Surrey Storm after impressing at this year's Inter Services Championships.

Pvt Howell is also on the shortlist for the Rising Star award at the up and coming Army Sports Awards, a nod to what has been an impressive season for the Tidworth based soldier.

Also nominated for an award at this year's Army Sports Awards is fellow Army Netball star and Fiji international Sergeant Dee Bolakoro, who has been shortlisted for Sportswomen of the Year after helping the Army retain the Inter Services and representing the Fiji Pearls at this year's Netball World Cup in South Africa.

The introduction of the Inter Corps Mixed Netball Championships has seen male soldiers like Lance Corporal Apisai Sausabitu help boost the participation of male soldiers in the sport.

LCpl Sausabitu also represents the England Thorns, where he recently played in the ground-breaking first-ever international men's test series held in England, where they played a thrilling match against the Jamaica Suns.

The Royal Engineers, which included Sgt Bolakoro and LCpl Sausabitu, were in fine form to help the Sappers to this year's Mixed Netball title.
