Army veteran sets sights on Paralympic qualification at World Rowing Championships

Former Royal Engineer Gregg Stevenson has been selected to represent Great Britain at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
Stevenson is among 62 athletes to have been selected for the event where the British team will aim to qualify as many boats as possible for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games in Paris.
He will be back with his teammate, double Paralympic champion Lauren Rowles, in the PR2 mixed double sculls as the pair look to book their place in Paris next year.
This new pairing has already made a strong impact this season with an unbeaten record and achieving world best times at this year's European Championships in Lake Bled, Slovenia, before going on to replicate that success at World Cup II in Varese, Italy.

Stevenson took up rowing in 2012, where he went on to compete at the Invictus Games in 2014.
A veteran of Afghanistan, he lost one leg above the knee and the other below when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) while on patrol in Helmand Province in 2009.
The 2023 World Rowing Championships will take place between 3 and 10 September 2023.
