The Army wheelchair rugby league team have taken on the Welsh national team in a friendly fixture in Wales as the military team push to grow and develop the game in the Armed Forces.

The team, which included former England international and World Cup-winner James Simpson, gave the Welsh outfit a run for their money, but lost to the home side 34-24.

Army wheelchair rugby league, which is supported by the charity Soldiers League, hopes to create a regular inter services wheelchair rugby league and also a combined services side to take on the best in the world.
