The British Army and Royal Navy rugby union teams have announced their starting line-ups ahead of Saturday's crunch Army v Navy Inter Service fixtures at Twickenham.

It's an important fixture for the Royal Navy men who will be skippered by Captain Jarrad Hayler, as the defending champions could sew up the Inter Service title for the second year running at Twickenham following their narrow 25-24 victory over the Royal Air Force in Plymouth.

The Navy senior men's team will be missing Fiji international player Sam Matavesi, who is focusing on his commitments with his civilian club Northampton Saints, who are playing Leinster in the European Rugby Champions Cup semi-final this weekend.

The Army are led by Bombardier Peter Austin as the reds look to spoil the Royal Navy's title hopes at the home of England Rugby.

Their hat-trick hero from last year, Cameron McDonald, is absent from the line-up as he focuses on his commitments with the German National Team.

The Army women have been the dominant force in the Inter Service Rugby Championship since the women's game was introduced to the tournament in 2003, winning every championship they've entered except in 2019 which was won by the Royal Air Force.

Staff Sergeant Jade Mullen will once again lead the Army out of the tunnel at Twickenham as they look to continue their dominant run for another year.

The Royal Navy are skippered by Leading Hand Rose Dixon, who will be looking to improve on their game from last year after they ended a 10-year wait to score a try against the Army last year, which was achieved by Olivia Critchley-Peddle.

They will be without their try-scorer in their opening Inter Service game against the RAF, Rebecca Addis, who is out with a calf injury.

The Army v Navy showdown will take place at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 4 May and will be broadcast live on Forces News YouTube Channel and RugbyPass TV, with catch-up also available on BFBS TV for service personnel.
