British Army caps off Inter Service campaign with a win over the RAF at Kingsholm
The British Army have won the final Inter Service clash of 2025 after a close 38-31 victory over the Royal Air Force at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester.
Both the Army and the RAF came into this final fixture having counted narrow losses against the Royal Navy in their previous Inter Service clashes.
And after the Navy had sown up the Inter Service Championship title at Allianz Stadium, the Army or the RAF were instead fighting for bragging rights as opposed to some championship silverware.
An early RAF penalty led to skipper Mark Williams earning three points for ther light blues with a penalty kick.
But the Army quickly turned up the turbo as Semesa Rokoduguni broke free to sprint over the line for the opening try of the game.
The RAF then started to push the Army into their own 22 after a great run by Mark Williams, and that effort led to RAF hooker James Roberts muscling his way through the Army defence to get the light blue’s first try on the board.
After a moment of both teams tussling for ball possession, Army 12 Kelly broke through the middle before offload to Army number 8 Senitiki Nayalo to score another try for the Army.
Moments later, Rokoduguni was at it again, breaking through the side of the RAF defence to sprint to the tryline to score his second try, and continuing the Army’s upward momentum.
And that momentum continued in the dying minutes of the first half, as Nayalo once again score a try for the Army, handing the reds a commanding 24-10 lead at half time.

As the teams returned for the second half, the Army showed their intention of carrying on as they left off as flanker Matthew Dawson broke free to score for the Army.
The RAF needed to find a way to turn this game around, and after muscling their way into the Army’s 22, it would be Keiron Prescott who would dot over under the posts for the light blues.
It wouldn’t be long before the light blues would follow up with another try by Jacob Seddon, as captain Mark Williams added the extras to bring the air force back into the fight with the scoreboard sitting at 31-24.
With a resurging RAF team, the Army needed to respond, and the ever-experienced Rokoduguni swerved the RAF defence to deliver a hattrick for himself and another try for the Army.
The RAF then made a push into the Army’s 22, and Zack Taylor caught the Army off guard with a fantastic run through the middle to dot over the line, inching the light blues closer to the Army’s scoreline at 38-31.
A much tussle between the two teams in the dying minutes of the game, it would ultimately be the Army who would emerge victorious in this final Inter Service game of 2025.
Army flanker Matthew Dawson was awarded Player of the Match for his performance on the pitch.
