Who are the key contenders at the 2024 UK Armed Forces Sports Awards?
It's time to celebrate the best of UK Armed Forces sport once again with live coverage of the 2024 UKAF Sports Awards.
The ceremony will be shown live on the Forces News YouTube channel on 16 April with coverage beginning at 14:00 BST.
But who will be the contenders for the main awards?
UKAF Sportsman of the Year
Sapper Cameron McDonald (British Army) – A successful 2023 for the Army rugby union star saw him crowned as the Army's top male sports star and for Spr Cam McDonald, it followed a great summer with the UKAF team at the Forces World Cup.
In 2023, he scored a hat-trick at Twickenham Stadium for the Army, won the Corps Championship with the Royal Engineers, represented Germany at international level and helped UKAF to a bronze medal at the Forces World Cup.
Sub Lieutenant Theo Dodds (Royal Navy) – He's one of the military's best shooting stars and he was recognised for that at the Royal Navy sports awards in December.
In 2023, he represented the Navy, the UK Armed Forces and Great Britain in competition including a victory over the prestigious Full Bore team for GB.
Squadron Leader Simon Almond (Royal Air Force) – Water Polo is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK Armed Forces and the reigning RAF Sportsman of the Year is a leading light in the sport.
A national championship with Cheltenham and a stint as coach for GB's junior team wasn't Sqn Ldr Almond's crowning achievement though – he says it was wrestling the Inter Services trophy back from the Army last year.

Sportswoman of the Year
Second Lieutenant Kerenza Bryson (British Army) – What a year 2023 was for the former Army rising star winner and now British Army Sportswoman of the Year.
She rose to third overall in the Modern Pentathlon world rankings and could be a big player for Team GB at this summer's Paris Olympics if picked. Could she head to the big stage as the best sportswoman in the UK Armed Forces?
Leading Physical Trainer Able Seaman Sophie Colebourn (Royal Navy) – A two-time winner of the Navy's top female award, so can AB Colebourn finally win the big UKAF award?
She lost out to Karriss Artingstall in 2022 but, since then, she delivered an astonishing performance at the 2023 England Boxing National Amateur Championships to win a national title.
Flight Lieutenant Carys Williams-Morris (Royal Air Force) – She's a leading international rugby union player who gives everything when playing in an RAF shirt.
Flt Lt Williams-Morris has appeared at the highest level of the game including the women's Six Nations, but will she play a part in the RAF's attempt to win the 2024 Inter Services – find out more about our live coverage here.
The UKAF team of the year has already been announced as the British Army's Tug of War team while the UKAF Official of the Year will also be decided.
