Former Army Lance Corporal Corie Mapp has won bronze at the para bobsleigh World Cup in St Moritz.

Mapp placed third with a combined time of 2:28.27 behind home favourite Christopher Stewart from Switzerland who took the gold medal and silver medallist Robert Balk from the United States.

He was also set to compete in the European Championship event in St Moritz on Friday, but that event was cancelled due to persistently high temperatures at the track.

Born in Barbados, Mapp lost both legs when his military vehicle ran over an explosive device in Afghanistan in 2010.

He previously played in sitting volleyball where he represented Great Britain at the European Championships and the Invictus Games in 2014, before Help For Heroes introduced him to bobsleigh at a trial camp in Calgary a year later.
