RAF issues warning to plane-spotters in danger of being blasted by jet engines

RAF officials have warned plane-spotters are at risk of "serious injuries" and being blown onto the busy A15 road in Lincolnshire.
Military plane enthusiasts and photographers also known as 'av geeks' have been standing too close to RAF Waddington's perimeter fence – which is designed to withstand the huge forces produced by fighter jet engines during take-off and landing.
An existing sign at the base tells spectators: "DANGER. Jet blasts of departing and arriving aircraft can cause severe physical harm resulting in extreme bodily harm and/or death."
Posted to RAF Waddington's account on social media platform X, officials said: "Beware of jet efflux! WAD Ops team want to keep you safe whilst you take your photos.
"So please stand well away from the red and white fencing. Jet efflux is very strong and can cause serious injuries if not careful. Stay safe and look after everyone!"

The RAF provides a dedicated viewing area at the air base, but some spectators are often seen ignoring the warnings as they try to get a better view of approaching military aircraft.
RAF Waddington is one of the UK's busiest military stations and is also home to the Red Arrows display team.
