Ukrainian soldiers pictured firing French heavy 120mm mortars

Troops have been pictured firing French heavy mortars on the frontline in Ukraine, as shown in the video above.

Ukrainian soldiers have been using the French MO-120 RT (rifled towed) mortar at Russian positions in the frontline near Bakhmut, in the Donetsk region of the country.

The 120mm calibre mortar can be deployed in less than three minutes and has been giving fire support to Ukrainian troops.

The MO-120-RT is an early Cold War-era heavy rifled 120mm mortar of French design.

It was designed in the 1950s and still remains in service today due to its sound design.

Known for its range, accuracy and lethality, it has been adopted by many nations including France, Japan and Turkey.
